Bird Radiance
Not a single change
To be surprised at
Or to be sought for
When the slight movement of the shadows
That the flock of birds casts
Flits across my vision-field
The momentary radiance
That makes me aware by turns
Of the length and the shortness
Of a day
By linking the swellings of the waves
I know a world exists outside myself
From the distant mountain’s ridge-line
A mass of clouds roils up
Wings are made to tremble
Birds chirp in the night
With inaudible brightness
So as to knit together the spaces among
The grouped towers
I know only that I exist
